The county seat of La Salle County is the
City of Cotulla. It was established in 1882 and was known as the "hub city"
of the South Texas brush country. Sprawling cattle ranches and fertile
farmland surround it. It is located on IH-35 and is 85 miles south of San
Antonio and 70 miles north of Laredo.
La Salle County, with a population of 5,866, is on the eastern perimeter of
the "Golden Triangle" and comprises more than 1,000,000 acres of primarily
agricultural land.
The
Cotulla-La
Salle County Airport "KCOT" is located about 1 ½ miles east of Cotulla
and offers a full complement of aviation services to all types of aircraft,
including business jet and turboprop. It has a fixed base operator with
24-hour service, including aviation fuel. A rental vehicle is also
available.
